This is not a great movie, but it is a favorite. Maybe the only movie I can tolerate with John Wayne. He shows the charisma that made him a star, and a real affection for Patricia Neal and perhaps even more so for Kirk Douglas. Still, no actor he, Wayne can sometimes barely get through a line of dialogue without odd pauses or pronunciation.
